Description


The Master in Product Engineering will provide an eclectic training, based on the development of core and complementary scientific skills, seeking to diversify with contemporary socio-cultural aspects. Teaching and learning is based on the Project Based Learning methodology. The training is aimed at relevant markets (such as automobiles, aeronautics, household appliances, among others.) and is a pedagogical project whose main objective is to train professionals in Product Engineering with appropriate skills for the industry, namely transformation and creative . Thus, the eclectic training, the integration of pluridisciplinarity, the teaching based on projects and the orientation towards the industry are references of the educational, scientific and cultural project of the University of Minho, and are reflected in the study plan.

Key learning outcomes


1. Develop skills oriented to product development, from the business plan to marketing and commercialization; 

2. Acquire skills in testing, evaluating and guaranteeing the quality of components and products;

3. Be able to specify industrial transformation systems;

4. Use information systems for communication, data acquisition and control;

5. Plan and be able to manage product and device development projects;

6. Integrate sustainable development practices and environmental preservation and recovery in the design and production of components;

7. Know how to apply the principles of sustainable product development, Eco-efficiency, systems integration, eco-design, product life cycle in your future job.

8. Involve students in design activities, and integration of research activities;

9. Support for the consolidation of relevant competitiveness and technology poles and target industrial sectors.

The Master in Product Engineering will train engineers with knowledge and skills of high relevance for the most daring, innovative and dynamic industrial sectors of the economy. The Master in Product Engineering thus appears as a central catalyst and catalyst for the transformation of industrial sectors with lower rates of innovation and effective support for the most dynamic sectors that develop knowledge-based activities (eg, automobiles, aeronautics, railways, nautical (mobility industries), health, medical devices, equipment, energy, electronics/microelectronics).
