Description

The concept of MEPRO is innovative both in the structure and in the content. The course is structured in a backbone based on Integrated Laboratories (LI) over the semesters, where the activities of Product Engineering are developed based on projects. The i-team will interact with a degree in Product Design (UMINHO), for example, through joint workshops and projects. Work in a collaborative environment will be actively promoted, in interaction with the industry.
The basic skills are developed in a semester in the tough courses, being the acquired knowledge grounded in the next semester. The complementary skills are developed in the semester through seminars on LI. The course contents were selected based on their relevance to the objectives of MEPRO. The faculty, with varied backgrounds and experienced, will favor the integration and sedimentation of the knowledge acquired during the master course in the LI.
Regarding content, the MEPRO integrates various traditional areas, which generally do not interact, leveraging synergies among them. The design brings a human aspect to the product´s function, the engineering skills underpins the scientific knowledge of materials, tools and methodologies for product development and its manufacturing processes; skills in management and engineering economics deals with the aspects of achieving business success, with innovation and entrepreneurship. The MEPRO graduates will be able to design and develop innovative and competitive products, from the design phase to the validation of the final product on the market.
The MEPRO emerges as a teaching project:
- Innovative and with a strong image, allowing new audiences and attracting excellent students
- Integrator, and flagship of EEUM/DEP/DEM, pretending to be a reference to national and international levels.
