Emerging Techniques in Optimization

The Advanced Studies Programme in Emergent Techniques in Optimization offers 5 curricular units (CUs) with 5 ECTS each, aggregating various related topics. The student should enrol 3 of the 5 offered CUs.

The Advanced Studies Programme in Emergent Techniques in Optimization aims to teach:

i) Researchers in science, economy, medicine, statistics, and engineering areas, from the second studies cycle in applied sciences or engineering with needs on formation in the areas of systems optimization. The following learning results should be obtained:
- To update / complement knowledge about emergent nonlinear optimization techniques
- To analyze and model Engineering systems
- To use scientific computational tools in the emergent areas of nonlinear optimization tools

ii) Professionals from the industry and services with adequate competencies in using subjects related with the determination of optimization problems solution. In this case the following learning results should be obtained:
- To obtain knowledge about emergent nonlinear optimization techniques
- To obtain an up-to-date vision of the optimization techniques applied to the engineering and applied sciences
- To use scientific computational tools in the emergent areas of nonlinear optimization tools
