SGS delegation met with the Presidency of the
School of Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM), with the objective of
establishing a collaborative logic between both institutions.
The Vice-Dean
responsible for Interaction with Society, Paulo Sampaio, met with Nuno Lourinho
(Branch Manager of SGS for the Minho’s Region) and Paulo Gomes (Marketing
Manager of SGS) between 26th and 27th February, at the School of Engineering.
SGS's visit to
the EEUM was part of a cycle of seminars on the presentation of the new ISO
45001 standard for Management System of Health and Safety at Work, which SGS is
carrying out in different regions of the country. The Minho’s region event took
place on the 26th February, at the Campus of Gualtar, in Braga. This event aimed
at elucidating the participants about the structure, requirements and changes
of the new standard related to the current OHSAS 18001 standard.
On the 27th
February, SGS visited EEUM in order to meet some of its Research Centres
(ALGORITMI Research Centre, 2C2T and CEB) and some of the Interface Units of
the University of Minho (PIEP and TecMinho). “The next step – which is already
being worked on – is to identify concrete collaboration opportunities between
the School and SGS, based on the competencies we have in our research
laboratories, as well as in the University Interface Units”, Paulo Sampaio, Vice-Dean
of the EEUM, clarified.
