Professor of the Department of Informatics (DI) of the EEUM, took office as the
new Director of the High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab).
José Nuno Oliveira, Full Professor from the Department of Informatics
(DI) of the EEUM, was recently elected director of HASLab for the period 2017-2020.
The management team also counts on Manuel Alcino Pereira Cunha, Assistant
Professor from DI, as assistant director.
To José Nuno Oliveira, this nomination “is an opportunity to strengthen
the collaboration between the EEUM and INESC TEC through a partnership,
formalised in 2012, which has been very productive thus far”, he refers.
José Nuno OIiveira became Full Professor of the DI of the EEUM. He completed his bachelor degree in Electrotechnical Engineering in 1978
at the University of Porto, and his PhD in Computer Science in 1984 at the
University of Manchester, U.K. Also in Manchester, he started his research in formal
methods for software design, a topic that he has been teaching at the
University of Minho for more than three decades.
HASLab actively contributes for the research and development in the
following areas of Informatics and Computer Science: Software Engineering
(formal methods and techniques for rigorous software development) Distributed
Systems (scalable data management techniques and systems for cloud computing
and data science environments) and Cryptography and Information Security
(provable security of cryptographic schemes and protocols; programming
languages and tools for cryptographic software development).
