The Dean of the School of
Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM) and Vice-Dean responsible for
Interaction with Society visited the University of Minho’s (UMinho) interface
units.
Aiming at getting better acquainted with the interface units’ activities
and at defining strategies to promote them to the society in general in
projects related to the EEUM, the Dean of the EEUM, Professor João L. Monteiro,
and the Vice-Dean responsible for Interaction with Society, Professor Paulo
Sampaio, have recently visited the four interface units of the UMinho located
at the Campus of Azurém: Centre for Computer Graphics (CCG), Centre for Waste
Valorisation (CVR), Pole for Innovation Polymer Engineering (PIEP) and the Association
for University-Industry Development (TecMinho).
In close cooperation with local, national and foreign industries, local
authorities, and public and private entities, the four interface units have
been undertaking applied research projects, technology transfer, community service
provider contracts and advanced training opportunities, counting on the
participation of researchers from several EEUM’s scientific domains.
The Centre for Computer
Graphics (CCG) develops activities related to applied research and
development in the fields of computer graphics, information technology,
communications and electronics and its applications;
The Centre for Waste
Valorisation (CVR) provides research services, scientific analysis and
implementation of real solutions in the field of waste recovery and
valorisation;
The Pole for Innovation
Polymer Engineering (PIEP) develops and supports the creation of innovative
products, processing technologies and production tools. Likewise it enables
knowledge transfer from activities in partnership with the industry in the
field of polymers engineering and composites;
TecMinho - Association for
University-Industry Development supports the development of new
technologies/products/processes, education and training, organisational
development, support to academic entrepreneurship and the creation of
innovative companies, with emphasis on academic spin-offs.
