CIAJG - Guimarães
Next Wednesday, 20 March, at 2.30pm, the CIAJG's
BlackBox will host an Open Class with Maura Grimaldi and Giulia Lamoni,
entitled "saxa loquuntur [the stones speak]
The session will feature the short film saxa loquuntur
by Maura Grimaldi. The film narrates, in the form of a dialogue, the meeting
between Elizabeth and the Geologist, showing a unique attraction for the lithic
world. In an essayistic and wandering way, they cross concepts in the field of
natural sciences to approach migratory movements and the analogies between
human and rocky bodies. This film uses 16mm film to contemplate the mineral
world as a methodology and as a theme, exploring forms of creation that Maura
calls slow practices. This will be followed by a conversation between the
audience, the artist and curator Giulia Lamoni.
Maura
Grimaldi is a
visual artist. Her work addresses issues related to obsolete
technologies through experimentation with various optical devices, reflecting
on the economy of attention and forms of subjectivation in contemporary times.
She is currently studying for a PhD in Lisbon (FCSH-UNL).
Giulia Lamoni is an
independent researcher and curator. Her research focuses on the relationship
between contemporary art, feminisms, migratory processes, the history of
contemporary art in Latin America and the intersections between artistic
practices and experimental education.
