António Gomes Correia, Full Professor of the Department of Civil
Engineering (DEC) and Vice-Dean of the School of Engineering of the University
of Minho (EEUM), was invited by the Scientific Commission of Manuel Rocha
Lesson to be the lecturer of the 33rd Manuel Rocha Lesson.
The 33rd Manuel Rocha Lesson was presented by Professor António Gomes
Correia, Full Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC) and
Vice-Dean of the EEUM, with the title “Developments and innovation in
transportation geotechnics”. The Lesson took place on 28th November
2016, at 15h00, on Auditorium 2 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in
Lisbon.
To the lecturer, this invitation meant “a very gratifying reward of my
technical-scientific career. I sincerely hope that the chosen topic, addressing
development and innovation, may respond to the orientations of the late
Scientist and Engineer Manuel Rocha”.
Manuel Rocha Lesson is annually held since 1984 and is a unique event of
the national geotechnical community, of high-level scientific, that intends to
invoke the scientist and engineer Manuel Rocha. The speakers are renowned
geotechnical experts recognised internationally. This Lesson is organised by
the Portuguese Geotechnical Society (SPG) in partnership with the Geotechnical
Association of Former Students of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (AGAA/UNL).
