As part of its knowledge valorisation policy, the UMinho encourages the development of companies whose purpose is the valorisation of the resulting knowledge of their scientific and technological research activities: the University of Minho Spin-offs. The status of Spin off is granted to projects connected to departments or research centres aimed at creating companies which are able to value research results generated during the course of the scientific activities conducted by the academic community, such as researchers, research fellows and postgraduate students. The brand "Spin-off da Universidade do Minho" represents the knowledge transfer generated within the UMinho through carrying out an economic activity with high growth potential.
