The School's mission focuses on the production of new knowledge, its dissemination and implementation, contributing to the technological, economic, environmental and social development.
The approach to interaction with society remains a brand identity of the school, seeking to aim the interaction focus to industry and services in excellence skills domains, aligned with its strategic areas. The EEUM takes on a strategy of knowledge transfer, promotion of entrepreneurship, cultural promotion and effective intervention in the social area.
The excellence of the R&D&I developed at the EEUM is embodied both by the activity developed within its 9 research centres as well as in projects carried out in collaboration with the 4 interface institutions of the University of Minho.

Aiming at projecting its status as an excellence School of Engineering, with differentiating and multidisciplinary projects in current, emerging and strategic domains, the EEUM sought to gather facilitating resources to support project financial management, so that researchers can focus more on research. Therefore, the Financial Implementation Support Office (GAEF) of the School of Engineering is available to assist efficient monitoring of project financial management.
