​Scholarships and Incentives

EEUM’s students may take advantage from several educational benefits, namely scholarships under school social programmes, as well as several educational awards and other incentives. These distinctions aim at rewarding students for their academic excellence.

In each academic year, a set of scholarships and awards is​ available:

 ​
  • Scholarships of UMinho’s social programme: for students from low income households (1st and 2nd cycle);
  • UMinho’s Excellence Scholarships: scholarship corresponding to an annual academic fee granted to the best student of each academic year, from each programme (final average classification ≥ 16 marks out of 20);
  • UMinho’s Academic Merit Award: for students benefitting from UMinho’s social programmes with exceptional educational performance (1st and 2nd cycle students, with final average classification ≥ 16 marks out of 20), one scholarship for each School or Institute of the university;
  • UMinho’s Emergency Social Fund: cash benefit grants to respond to specific situations related to economic and social constraints;
  • Almedina Award: annual award to the best student benefitting from UMinho’s social programmes from each School or Institute of the university;
  • Lions Clube de Braga: 50 annual scholarships for disadvantaged students of the UMinho;
  • University of Minho’s Day Award: Caixa Geral de Depósitos Award – 11 scholarships; Câmara Municipal de Braga Award - 2 scholarships; Câmara Municipal de Guimarães Award – 1 scholarships; AIMinho Indústria/Empresa Award: 2 scholarships;
  • Civil Engineering Scholarships: programme created in the framework of a collaboration agreement signed between UMinho and partner companies from the civil construction sector. The programme awards 15 scholarships to the best students accessing the Integrated Master Programme in Civil Engineering in the academic years 2014/2015, 2015/2016 e 2016/2017. The award is equivalent to a full year tuition fee and will be kept during all 5 years of the education programme provided that the student achieves one of the best final classifications among the class;
  • EEUM External Merit Award – Luís Alberto Mendonça e Nuno Arém Pinto: award granted annually to the best student of the 4th year of the Integrated Master Programme in Industrial Management and Engineering, benefitting from UMinho’s social programmes, with all curricular units completed, and with the best average classification;
  • EEUM External Merit Award – Multicert: award granted annually by the company Multicert - Serviços e Certificação Eletrónica, S.A. to the best project in “Criptography” and “Information Systems Security”, from the integrated master programmes in Informatics and Computer Sciences and from the master programmes in Informatics, Informatics Engineering and Computer Sciences;
  • EEUM External Merit Award – Board of Engineers: award granted annually to the best students from Engineering programmes lectured at the UMinho and accredited by the Board of Engineers;
  • EEUM External Merit Award – Grupo Casais: award granted annually to the best student from the Integrated Master Programme in Civil Engineering, with average classification equal to or higher than 14 marks out of 20;
  • EEUM External Merit Award – Bosch Car Multimedia Portugal: award granted annually to the best student from the Integrated Master Programme in Industrial Management and Engineering, with the best average classification in dissertation;
  • EEUM External Merit Award – Iberomoldes: award granted annually to the student with the best average classification, higher than 14 marks out of 20, in the curricular units Moulding Project, Plastics Project and Quality and Integrative Unit 7;
  • EEUM External Merit Award – MCA: ward granted annually to the student with the best average classification in the Integrated Master Programme in Civil Engineering, branch “Planning, Infrastructure and Transportation”.
