The management team of the ALGORITMI
Research Centre of the EEUM took over on the 14th September.
Ricardo J. Machado, Full Professor from the Department of Information Systems
(DSI) of the EEUM, was elected Director of the ALGORITMI Research Centre for
the period 2016-2019. The management team also counts on José Manuel Ferreira
Machado (Associate Professor with habilitation from the Department of
Informatics), José António Vasconcelos Oliveira (Assistant Professor of the
Department of Production and Systems) and Jorge Miguel Nunes Santos Cabral (Assistant
Professor from the Department of Industrial Electronics), as Assistant Directors.
During the ceremony,
ALGORITMI’s Director congratulated the centre’s outgoing managing team, the new
managing team and also the secretariat support services as well as the centre’s
coordinating committee. As far as the research centre’s activity is concerned,
Ricardo J. Machado referred to several issues which distinguished ALGORITMI’s
activities in the past three-year period, such as the evaluation process and
its results, which led to ALGORITMI’s current national significant position in
its main theme area, “Computer Science and Engineering”. Concerning the new
period, apart from continuing dealing with the focal issues of the research
centre’s activity, the director also mentioned as the centre’s main goals increasing
the articulation with the departments associated to the centre’s activity and
strengthening external image and visibility of ALGORITMI’s activities.
Ricardo
