11 members of a South
African delegation visited the School of Engineering of the University of Minho
(EEUM) on 1st March 2017. The one-day event was part of the
programme to visit the University of Minho (UMinho).
A delegation with 11 people – including Tate Makgoe, South African Member
of Executive Council for Education from the Free State province, in Sotuh
Africa – visited the EEUM on a day programme. The guests come from several
districts of Free State province.
The initiative was part of the UMinho’s visit programme and featured various
moments throughout the day. After the welcome session, the delegation visited
the UMinho’s Campus of Gualtar, in Braga, where the guests visited the
Department of Informatics, the Department of Biological Engineering and the Centre
of Biological Engineering. The afternoon period was marked by the visit to the Dean’s
office of the EEUM, campus of Azurém, and the presentation of the School, which
was held by João Monteiro, Dean of the EEUM. The programme closed
with a visit to PIEP – Pole for Innovation in Polymer Engineering, one of UMinho’s
interface institutions.
The purpose of the one-day visit was to establish a cooperation
agreement leading to mobility of South African students to the UMinho.
Concerning the EEUM, the interest is mainly in the Master Programme in
Mechatronics and the Integrated Master Programmes in Polymer Engineering and
Textile Engineering.
