The Human Engineering’s
Seminars Cycle 2016/2017 has come to an end, after four sessions that focused,
mostly, in the area of medicine and health in general.
The
Human Engineering’s Seminar Cycle, promoted by the Department of Production and
Systems (DPS) of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM)
has come to an end in April 2017. The initiative started in November 2016 with
four seminars aimed at the academic and scientific community.
The
first seminar addressed “The Occupational Health and the Entrepreneur” and had
Henrique Machado, General Practitioner and Family Doctor, as speaker. The
second had as motto “The Occupational Physician and its relation with Labor
Safety”, and was led by Rui Garrido, from AMBISALUS - Environmental Consultancy.
Madalena Torres, from Braga Hospital, was responsible for December’s seminary
entitled “First Aids/Basic Life Support”. The seminars cyle ended in 8th
April 2017 with Ignacio Castellucci, from the University of Valparaíso, in
Chile, which focused on the “Shift System: theory and practice”.
Human
Engineering is today recognised as an inseparable element of a modern and
efficient industrial management and is the branch of Engineering that includes such
different areas of study as Ergonomics, Labor Safety and Industrial Hygiene.
The Human Engineering’s Seminar Cycle 2016/2017 was integrated in the
celebrations of the 40 years of the DPS of the EEUM.
