José Carlos Teixeira, Full Professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) of the EEUM, took office as the new Director of the Centre for Mechanical and Materials Technology (CT2M) of the EEUM on the 29th May 2017.
José Carlos Teixeira, Full Professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) of the EEUM, was recently reelected director of the CT2M for the period 2017-2019. The management team also counts on José Mendes Machado, Assistant Professor from DEM, as assistant director.

To José Carlos Teixeira, this mandate “will be composed of two main challenges: prepare our research centre for the upcoming research subunits assessment and the clarification of the School’s current research structure resulting from that assessment”. “Both on an institutional and personal basis, the School is aware that the centre and its managing team will always be willing to collaborate in all challenges where the CT2M contribution may be required”, the new director pointed out.

The mission of the Centre for Mechanical and Materials Technology (CT2M) is to contribute for the advance of scientific knowledge in mechanical engineering, in particular in the areas of mechanical and biomechanical systems, energy and environmental technologies, and functionalised materials. The CT2M also aims at making this knowledge available to the scientific community through its publication in international journals and conferences, and to industry, by means of the establishment of joint research projects and agreements for technology transfer. The centre’s research activity is divided into three main areas: Functionalised Materials and Surface Performance; Energetic and Environmental Technologies; Dynamics of Mechanical Systems.
