Between 8th and 15th June, João L. Monteiro visited Jilin
University and Zhuhai College Jilin University, in Changchun and Zhuhai, aiming at strengthening the cooperation between the EEUM and
these Chinese institutions.
The Dean of the EEUM, Professor João L. Monteiro, has recently visited
China in an institutional mission to Jilin University and to Zhuhai College
Jilin University. The visit aimed at building on the memorandum of
understanding celebrated between the University of Minho and Jilin University, signed
in 2015 under EEUM’s proposal. Particularly, the visit programme included
several preparatory meetings in order to draft a new cooperation programme. The
EEUM and the two Chinese institutions expect to collaborate in the near future
on a project aimed at the qualification of teaching staff of both Jilin
University and Zhuhai College Jilin University. The cooperation programme will
also include welcoming students from these institutions and also from the
corporate sector in the Jilin province (north) and the Guangdong province (south) to the EEUM’s PhD programmes.
João L. Monteiro was received by the President of the Zhuhai College, Professor
Jingchuan Fu, and also by the managing staff of the Jilin University in
Changchun.
“The cooperation between the School of Engineering and these
institutions has been developed for many years now. We have jointly prepared
applications for several research projects and Erasmus + programmes. Students
and staff from all institutions have also participated in exchange programmes”,
the Dean of the EEUM refers. “We foresee the future will bring closer
cooperation opportunities with Asia, particularly with these partners with
which we have already established very strong collaboration links”.
