Sonicarla, a
pioneer in the seamless clothing sector in Portugal, signed a cooperation agreement
with the University of Minho, following a proposal of the School of Engineering
(EEUM), seeking to foster collaboration in dissertation and research projects.
Committed to boosting cooperation with
the industry sector, the School of Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM)
recently proposed a cooperation agreement with Sonicarla. The document was
signed, on the 16th November 2017, between the company and the
University of Minho. The ceremony
was attended by the former Rector António M. Cunha, EEUM’s Dean João L. Monteiro
and Vice-Dean Paulo Sampaio. Sonicarla was the first company in Portugal to
produce seamless clothing.
The
agreement also allowed the School to benefit from the donation of a weaving
loom with this technology, identical to those used in the company, "which
although the university already has, we will now be better equipped. In
addition to improving the training of our technicians, this machine will also
allow us to perform research activities ", said António M. Cunha. The
collaboration was proposed by the EEUM, not only as far as textile engineering
is concerned, but also focusing areas such as production management, costing,
logistics and quality.
“Two research projects are already underway, with
the collaboration of the 2C2T Research Centre and the ALGORITMI Research Centre. Sonicarla has great willingness to collaborate with Fashion Design
and Marketing” Paulo
Sampaio added.
The
company is also interested in fostering collaboration with EEUM in dissertation
projects of the School's programmes, as well as in specific projects PLE (Project-Led
Education) of the Integrated Master's programme in Engineering and Industrial Management.
"We aim at exchanging knowledge and we are certain we are with the right
partner," Daniel Pedro, the company's administrator, highlighted.
