António Gomes Correia, Full Professor from the
Department of Civil Engineering (DEC) and Vice-Dean of the School of
Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM), was doubly nominated by the Transportation
Research Board (TRB), one of Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine of
the USA units.

Correia, Full Professor from the DEC and Vice-Dean of the EEUM was granted with
a double nomination by the Executive Director of the TRB (The Academies of
Sciences, Engineering and Medicine of the USA), Neil Pedersen. The researcher
was nominated – for the period 2018-2020 – International Member of the Standing
Committee on Soil and Rock Properties (AFP30) and also International Member of
the Standing Committee on Transportation Earthworks (AFS10).
To António
Gomes Correia, these nominations represent the recognition of his notoriety in
the areas of knowledge for which he is invited to contribute in the respective research
and innovation strategic plans, and in the resolution of current and complex problems
related to Geotechnics in Transportation.
The TRB provides
independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation and conducts other
activities to solve complex problems and inform public policy decisions in
Transportation.
