Assistant Secretary of Satate and Environment was
present in the opening session of ECOS 2018, one of the biggest in the field
and organise by EEUM
The
International Conference on Effyciency, Cost, Optimization, Simulation and
Environmental Impact of Energy Systems (ECOS), one of the world’s biggest in
the field, joined 350 participants from 40 countries. The event took place in
Cultural Centre of Vila Flor, in Guimarães, between the 17th and 21th of June.
The
opening session was attended by the Assistant Secretary of Satate and Environment,
José Mendes, the Mayor of Guimarães, Domingos Bragança, and members of the
organisation. This was followed by an industrial challenge to identify future
challenges, opportunities and strategies in the energy sector of companies,
with heads of Bosch Thermotechnology, PetroAtlantic Energy Corporation, RAR
Group, Navigator Company and Vista Alegre.
ECOS
had an intensive programme of technical sessions, with 18 subjects ranging from
the thermodynamic fundamentals to the social implications of the conversion and
use of energy. One of the sessions was dedicated to the evocation of the life
and work of the polish Jan Szargut, recently deceased, cofounder of the concept
"exergy".
The
number of prestigious scientific journals associated are testimony of the
quality and prestige of ECOS 31st edition. The next will take
place in 2019 in Wrocław, Poland.
