Researchers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) of the EEUM granted honourable mention at the 6th European Conference on Mechanism Science
Filipe Marques, Fernando Isaac,
Nuno Dourado and Paulo Flores, researchers from the Department of Mechanical
Engineering (DEM) of the University of Minho, were granted and honourable mention
at the 6th European Conference on Mechanism Science (EUCOMES2016),
which took place from the 20th to the 23rd September in
Nantes (France) and received around one hundred scientific papers.
The UMinho’s team was awarded
for their work entitled "A New Formulation for Spatial Revolute Joints
with Clearance", which received the second highest classification of all
papers published at the Conference. The research aimed at developing advanced methodologies
of mechanical, robotic and human joints capable of faithfully representing the
existing interaction in kinematic joints of systems in several scales, from
conventional dimension to micro or nano scale.
The four researchers developed
their scientific and pedagogical activities at the Department of Mechanical
Engineering (DEM) of School of Engineering of the UMinho and at the Research
Unit for Microelectromechanical Systems (CMEMS), which focuses on micro and nanotechnologies,
associating the capabilities of mechanical and electronic systems to
application for new biomedical solutions.
