Four students from the Master Programme in
Engineering Projects Management (MGPE) of the School of Engineering of the
University of Minho (EEUM) were honoured at the Bright Challenge 2017 – The
Project Management Games. The event took place at the Portuguese Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, in Lisbon.
Andréa Gomes,
Elisabete Oliveira, Júlio Magalhães and Paulo Sousa, students from the MGPE of
the EEUM, were granted an award in one of the six categories of The Brightest
Competition – Team Motivation Management 2017, certified by the Project
Management Institute and organised by Bright Partners. The Bright Challenge is
a competition where teams of four elements use Simultrain, a project management
simulation software with challenges, monitoring performance indicators,
learning and working under pressure. The winning team was selected by a
specialised jury, where the criterion was the analysis of performance indicators
in five categories: time, cost, quality, motivation and risk management. In
addition to this award, the team achieved positive results in the time and
quality categories.
More than a
competition, Bright Challenge is a training action for project managers in a
competitive and realistic environment. The Bright Challenge 2017 counted on the
presence of 20 excellence teams, such as Águas of Porto, EDP Distribution,
EFACEC, eSPap, Isobar, Mota-Engil, Marinha, Air Force, Fidelidade, Jerónimo
Martins, Unipartner, Bosch Car Multimedia, among others.
MGPE is an
education project that brings together three departments of the EEUM – Department
of Production and Systems, Department of Information Systems and Department of
Civil Engineering. The programme aims at training professionals of various
profiles, prepared to manage technology development and implementation
processes of highly complex engineering projects.
