Toledo, Espanha
The work "Mental Monitoring Stress through Mouse
Behavior and Decision-making Patterns", by Filipe Gonçalves (PhD in
Computer Science at UMinho), Paulo Novais (Centro ALGORITMI / ISlab UMinho),
José Miguel Pêgo (ICVS / UMinho Medical School) and Davide Carneiro
(Politécnico do Porto), won the "Best Application Paper" at the 9th
International Symposium on Environmental Intelligence (ISAmI'18 - 9th -
International Symposium on Ambient Intelligence) in Toledo, Spain.
The award resulted from projects undertaken over several
years and sought to mitigate the negative influence of chronic stress on
university students during high-risk tasks. Excessive stress causes an increase
in physiological and psychological disturbances, reflecting a decrease in the quality
of working life. The present work discussed the creation and optimization of machine learning regression models that
allow the evaluation and prediction of stress in those students during
evaluation tests in e-learning systems.
ISAmI'18 ran from June 20 to 22 at the Castilla-La Mancha University and brought
together about 150 international experts to discuss environmental intelligence
and artificial intelligence. The event was co-organized by the universities of
Castilla-La Mancha and Minho, the Instituto Politécnico do Porto and the
associated laboratory INESC TEC.
