The increasing internationalisation of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM), along with the need to strengthen its position in the international higher education landscape, led to the creation of the International Office in March 2018. This structure aims to support the development of the School's international cooperation, contributing to its global visibility, its engagement with international partners and students, and the implementation of its internationalisation strategy.
The main objectives of the International Office are:
- To support the implementation of the EEUM Internationalisation Strategic Plan and ensure its ongoing update and development;
- To support the establishment, renewal and promotion of international agreements;
- To support the implementation of new internationalisation processes (e.g. joint and double degree programmes);
- To develop measures to support international mobility (promoting incoming and outgoing mobility of students and staff);
- To develop actions to support the international recruitment of students;
- To act as a contact point within the EEUM Presidency for international student support;
- To organise and follow up on visits from international delegations;
- To act as a contact point within the EEUM Presidency to ensure coordination between subunits and the International Relations Office (USAI) of UMinho;
- To identify and implement good practices in internationalisation within the School;
- To carry out other relevant activities within the context of the internationalisation of higher education.
