RiskMan - Building Competence in Risk Management of Future HSE Professionals      ​

The project RiskMan - Building Competence in Risk Management of Future HSE Professionals is a project of 36 months, focused on the development of competences in Higher Education, with completion date scheduled for 08/31/2021. The project is funded with € 247 577 by the Erasmus + program and will be coordinated by the Technical University of Ostrava in partnership with AUVA (Austria) and the University of Minho (funding € 68 308), with Pedro Miguel Ferreira Martins Arezes as Responsible Researcher.
The project will also include a number of associated partners, such as TATRA TRUCKS, DEKONTA International, Czech Industrial Safety Platform (CZ-TPIS) and the European Network for Occupational Safety and Health Education and Training (ENETOSH).

The main project objective is to develop relevant and high-quality competences of future HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) professionals in the area of risk management through transnational cooperation among universities, insurance institutions, enterprises and other key stakeholders. These competences will be developed with the use of innovative teaching methods and tools and innovative content (such as brainstorming, mind mapping, guided discussion and project methods) and tools (tailored case studies, transfer of good practices from companies, safety games – table and virtual reality games).

 
Special attention will be paid to active involvement (engagement) of students in the learning process. The methods and tools will be incorporated into existing subjects (e.g. Occupational risks, Industrial hygiene, Handling of hazardous substances) and new voluntary subject will be prepared incl. e-learning support. Furthermore, summer schools and module of industry trainee programme​ will be prepared and organized.

 
In summary, the main objectives of the project are:
-Build professional competence of the students in the area of HSE risk management –
focus on practical skills
-Build students´ ability to anticipate new hazards/risks and to prepare for them
-Increase students´ preparedness for future career
- Develop students´ critical and analytical thinking skills
- Engage students in the learning process
-Facilitate the knowledge development and knowledge sharing
