Monday, 11/21/2016
Prova de Agregação - Jaime Fonseca
21st and 22nd November 2016, Campus of Gualtar, Braga
Jaime Francisco Cruz Fonseca, professor at the Department of Industrial Electronics (DEI) of the EEUM and a member of the ALGORITMI Research Centre, obtained in November the academic degree of habilitation, approved by unanimity of the jury members.

The habilitation exams took place over two days, beginning with the presentation of the candidate's curriculum to the jury members – Urbano José Carreira Nunes (University of Coimbra), Pedro José de Melo Teixeira Pinto (University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro), José Manuel Gutierrez Sá da Costa (Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon), Carlos Alberto Caridade Monteiro e Couto (University of Minho) e João Luís Marques Pereira Monteiro (University of Minho) – followed by an analysis and discussion of a report, previously submitted by the candidate, on the Programme, Content and Education Methods for the curricular unit Automation, lectured by the candidate at the University of Minho.

On the second part of the exam, Jaime Francisco Cruz Fonseca presented the seminar entitled “Fuzzy Controllers”. According to the professor, “the main goal and motivation to prepare a seminar on fuzzy controllers was actually the preparation of a comprehensive document which may be useful to preparing lectures. Secondly, this may also act as a support for conferences and seminars presentations, to which I have been invited from time to time”.

The habilitation degree is granted to professors to whom a high merit professional curriculum demonstrating relevant research activity, advanced training or supervision is recognised, along with the authorship of high quality scientific papers after obtaining a doctoral degree.
