Habilitation Exams: Lígia Raquel Marona Rodrigues (DEB) Back

Lígia Raquel Marona Rodrigues, professor at the Department of Biological Engineering (DEB) and researcher of the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB) of the EEUM, obtained in December the academic degree of habilitation, approved by unanimity of the jury members.

The habilitation exams took place over two days, beginning with the presentation of the candidate’s curriculum to the jury members – Maria Helena Mendes Gil (University of Coimbra), Maria Arminda Costa Alves (University of Porto), João Paulo Serejo Goulão Crespo (Universidade Nova of Lisboa), João Manuel da Costa e Araújo Pereira Coutinho (University of Aveiro), José António Couto Teixeira (EEUM), Eugénio Manuel de Faria Campos Ferreira (EEUM), Maria Madalena dos Santos Alves (EEUM) – followed by an analysis and discussion of a report that addresses the curricular unit of Food Science and Engineering. which integrates the current studies’ programme of the Integrated Master Programme in Biological Engineering of the EEUM.

On the second part of the exam, Lígia Raquel Marona Rodrigues presented the seminar entitled “BIOSURFACTANTS: Versatile Molecules for Biotech Applications”, during which the professor presented the relevance and versatility of these molecules, as well as the technological challenges inherent to their production, their potential biotechnological applications and the latest research in this area of knowledge.

The habilitation degree is granted to professors to whom a high merit professional curriculum demonstrating relevant research activity, advanced training or supervision is recognised, along with the authorship of high quality scientific papers after obtaining a doctoral degree.
