Paulo Flores, Full Professor from the
Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) and Filipe Marques, Invited Lecturer
from DEM of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM), launched
a book on the dynamics of the car.
The book entitled “On the Dynamics of the Car: Theory and
Application” is the first book published in Portuguese. With a modern approach
on the theme, the manual intends to be a reference for professors and students
of higher education, especially regarding the interdisciplinary projects and
the active participation of the students.
The book’s presentation was held by Jaime Ferreira da
Silva and Filipe Samuel Silva, both Professors from the DEM of EEUM. In
addition to giving more theoretical and fundamental aspects, this publication
contains a differentiated set of practical pedagogical activities on the
dynamic study of a car. For those interested in the topics related to the
dynamics of mechanical systems, the book also addresses concepts such as
inertia, motion, force, deformation and maximum acceleration calculations.
Paulo Flores completed his bachelor degree in Mechanical
Engineering in 1997 and his PhD also in Mechanical Engineering in 2005, both at
the University of Minho. He is a Full Professor at the DEM of the EEUM since
2013. His research activity focuses on Dynamics of Mechanical Systems,
Mechanics Science, Tribology, Computational Mechanics, Biomechanics and Medical
Device Design and Higher Education.
Filipe Marques has a master’s degree in Mechanical
Engineering and is a PhD student in Leaders for Technical Industries from the
MIT Portugal Programme at EEUM. He is an Invited Lecturer of the DEM of EEUM
and has several dozens of scientific, technical and pedagogical publications.
