Project’s name: NaturComp - Development of natural fibre eco-composites
Abstract
The NaturComp project (Project NSRF No. 2011/22906), promoted by Fibrauto - Fabrico De Objectos Em Polyester Lda (Portugal), is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the National Strategic Reference Framework (QREN). The NaturComp project - development of natural fibres eco-composites was born from a collaborative work between Fibrauto and Fibrenamics Platform University of Minho, and aimed at the development of composite materials based on natural fibers (jute, sisal, flax) combined with biodegradable and/or recyclable polymers intended for the transport sector, construction and architecture. Throughout the project research and development activities were carried out to create parts in composites, reinforced by fibrous materials of natural origin, namely puffs, sinks and bus components.
