1 - When are you expected to resume face-to-face classes?
According to the indications defined in Dispatch RT-33/2020, the Rector of the University of Minho determined that the teaching activity related to the 2nd semester of the 2019-20 academic year will be carried out in a distance learning regime, with the appraisal of apprenticeships be carried out in line with this decision.
2 - Is it planned to conduct academic tests online, with remote participation of the jury and the candidate?
Yes, such format is allowed and Dispatch RT-34/2020, defines the exceptional and temporary regime for the functioning of juries and academic tests. Dispatch RT-45/2020, which defines the guidelines and measures to be adopted in the organic, cultural, differentiated and service units of the University of Minho for the progressive lifting of containment measures within the scope of COVID-19, further defines that
It should be privileged to conduct, by videoconference, juries of public exams for the award of the degree of master or doctor and the title of specialist or aggregate, allowing, however, the presence of members of the jury and, when applicable, the candidate ;

If there is no indication of the time horizon of the restrictions in force, it is recommended to suspend the disclosure actions until the stabilization of this abnormal period.
5 - Are EEUM teachers in quarantine?
No. Unless otherwise indicated, according to Dispatch RT-25/2020, of March 10, only "teachers, researchers, technical, administrative and management workers and students from countries with confirmed cases from Covid -19 must voluntarily undergo a quarantine period of 14 days after their arrival in the country ".
6 - Can EEUM students who are doing internships in external companies/institutions maintain this activity?
Yes. In the context of the current pandemic situation of COVID-19, and taking into account the recent legal provisions on the Government's strategy for lifting containment measures, as well as Order RT-45/2020, on Guidelines and measures to be adopted for the progressive lifting of the containment measures within the scope of COVID-19, UMinho requests that there be a resumption (although progressive) of the research activity in its laboratories.
In order to ensure a level playing field for all students, the EEUM understands that it no longer makes sense to request the interruption of activities carried out by students who may be carrying out their research work in companies, laboratories or other institutions outside UMinho ( in dissertations, projects, internships, theses, etc.)
EEUM understands that students can resume their activities at external institutions once two conditions are ensured:
- that these external entities authorize the resumption of activity on their premises;
- that external entities indicate that adequate safety conditions are in place in the workplace, with strict compliance with the recommendations of the competent health authorities and supervisory bodies. These conditions must be evaluated by the students, possibly with the support of their supervisors and course directors.
The EEUM also takes the opportunity to publicly clarify that:
1. The insurance that students enjoy in this situation continues with the same coverage that they had before and, therefore, does not include (and never included) diseases that result from the current pandemic situation;
2. No individual statements were issued when we asked them to stop appearing at external entities, so no individual statements will be issued to interrupt that previous decision. The decision to return to these places will always depend on an individual assessment of whether the recommendations of the competent health authorities and the guardianship regarding safety conditions in those places are being complied with;
