Vice-Dean of the EEUM and Full Professor at DEC, António
Gomes Correia has been recently re-nominated member of the Scientific Council
of the Institut Français des Sciences et Technologies des Transports, de
l'Aménagement et des Réseaux (IFSTTAR), a French institute devoted to research,
development and innovation and also technology transfer projects in the fields
of transport, infrastructure, natural hazards and urban issues.
António Gomes Correia, Vice-Dean of the EEUM and Full Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), has been re-nominated
member of the Scientific Council of the Institut Français des Sciences et
Technologies des Transports, de l'Aménagement et des Réseaux (IFSTTAR) in
August 2016. The professor and researcher from the EEUM was originally nominated for the
Scientific Council of IFSTTAR in February 2012.
The members of the Scientific Council of IFSTTAR are
nominated by the French Ministry of Environment, Energy and the Sea. Among the
21 council members, 15 are external individualities from the scientific
community and from economic and social sectors of society. According to
IFSTTAR’s regulation, at least three of these external personalities must be
nationals of other European Research Area member states, among which the EEUM’s
researcher has been appointed.
The Scientific Council of IFSTTAR is the governing
body responsible for reflecting on, assessing and proposing policies concerning
science and technology in the institute’s activity domains. The IFSTTAR is an
international reference institution and its mission is to conduct applied research
and technology transfer projects in the fields of transport, infrastructure,
natural hazards and urban issues, promoting the sustainable development of our
societies.
