According to Article 26th of the EEUM’s statutes, the Advisory Council of the EEUM is the consultative body to advise the School's government bodies regarding strategic definition subjects, as well as issues related to pedagogical, scientific and interaction with society activities.
The Advisory Council of the EEUM, composed by members appointed by the School Council, met on the 18th November. The goal was to present the strategies implemented from April 2015 to July 2016 under the themes “Strategic Plan and Agenda of the EEUM”, “Research and connection to industry” and “Educational offer”, according to the recommendations which followed the Advisory Council’s first meeting, in April 2015. The second half of the meeting focused on the discussion “School / Region interaction”.
The Counsellors congratulated the EEUM’s Dean and Vice-Deans for the achieved results in several activity areas: education projects, namely the results of the most recent National Competition for Access to Higher Education; initiatives related to cooperation with industry network, focusing on the cooperation project UMinho – Bosch Car Multimedia Portugal; and also as far as the School’s image and communication support strategies are concerned.
The Advisory Council presented a few additional intervention strategies aiming at strengthening the School’s visibility and student attraction capacity, as well as promoting EEUM’s role in regional development.
“The Advisory Council brings us an external vision of the university, which any institution wishing to improve must bear in mind. On the other hand, the Council also learns about constraints and limitations imposed to us. A few very positive ideas have arisen from the balance between these two roles”, the Dean of the EEUM, Professor João Monteiro, refers.
