Healthy construction means all construction, which besides being sustainable, does not affect the health of any living being, either before, during or after construction. One of the main aspects is people's health after the buildings being built (dwellings, workplaces, schools, etc.) and other important aspect is the health of construction workers or of production of building materials workers. There are numerous areas of study that can be further investigated in this context: toxicity and radioactivity of building materials; concentrations of radon gas; indoor air quality; artificial electromagnetic fields; among other.
Thus, it is intended that this seminar is an opportunity for all interested in Healthy Construction gain more knowledge on this subject that has not been addressed. In addition, this event can be a time of sharing of experiences and exchange of information between researchers, enterprises and the general public.
The event includes
a soil and lime-based mortar workshop. Admittance is free, but limited to the
first 35 enrolments in the seminar. The workshop will take place at the
University of Minho’s Civil Engineering laboratory, from 4.45 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This event is sponsored by the Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) of the University of Minho.
