António Gomes Correia, Full Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC) and Vice-Dean of the EEUM, was invited by International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) to present the Proctor Lecture in September 2017.
António Gomes Correia will be one of the eleven Honour Lectures’ speakers presented during the 19th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (19th ICSMGE). The conference, which will take place in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from the 17th to the 22nd September 2017, will count on the most renowned researchers worldwide on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.

The honour lecture will be entitled “From Fundamentals to Applications in Compaction: Recent Developments in Embankments and Structural Layers of Pavements and Railways”.

To António Gomes Correia, this invitation represents an international peer recognition of his long research and professional career in the field of Transportation Geotechnics.
