A delegation from the School of Industrial
Engineering of the University of Vigo (EEI-UVigo) recently visited the School
of Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM), with the aim of strengthening
the collaboration between the two institutions.
On
the 17th November 2017, the EEUM received a visit of a delegation
from the EEI-UVigo, composed of eleven professors and researchers in the areas
of Chemical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and
Industrial Engineering. The delegation traveled to the Campus of Azurém, in
Guimarães, with
the aim of
increasing collaboration in research projects and seeking to establish a more
direct contact with EEUM’s researchers.
The delegation
was received by the Dean of the EEUM, João L. Monteiro and the Vice-Deans,
António Correia, Rosa Vasconcelos and Paulo Sampaio. Following the welcoming
session of the delegation by the Presidency of the EEUM, a visit to three
research centres of the EEUM took place – the ALGORITMI Research Centre, the
Centre for Mechanicals and Materials Technology (CT2M) and the Centre of
Biological Engineering (CEB), the last one based at the Campus of Gualtar, in
Braga. In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Centre for Waste
Valorisation (CVR) and the Centre for Computer Graphics (CCG), interface
institutions of the UMinho.
The visit to the EEUM followed ongoing collaboration activities between
the two Schools and a visit by the EEUM to the EEI-UVigo in July 2017, as part
of the EEUM’s internationalisation strategy, in particular to promote
Portugal-Spain cooperation. “The University of Vigo has grown significantly and
it is our ambition to maintain this collaborative partnership”, João L. Monteiro,
Dean of the EEUM, remembered.
