EEUM, in partnership with APREN, marked the Global Wind Day in an event which counted with the participation of Enercon, Finerge and EDP Renováveis.
With a round table dedicated to the subject "Wind Energy: Present and Future", the EEUM in partnership with APREN (Portuguese Renewable Energy Association) marked the Global Wind Day on June 15th. These included topics such as "The Renewable Electricity Sector in Portugal", "Research and Success in Portugal" or "The challenges in the operation of wind power plants in Portugal".

The opening session was attended by the President of EEUM, João Monteiro, and the Secretary General of APREN, José Medeiros Pinto. The technological trends in the sector were addressed by Gabriel Pinto and Vítor Monteiro, respectively, Professor and Researcher of GEPE - Power and Energy Electronics Group of the ALGORITMI Research Center.

The Global Wind Day was created in 2007 by Wind Europe to draw attention to the great potential of wind as a renewable electricity production resource. According to APREN, "The wind sector has contributed decisively to the national economy. This reality has also contributed to the generation of direct and indirect national employment ".
