EEUM, in partnership with APREN, marked the Global
Wind Day in an event which counted with the participation of Enercon, Finerge
and EDP Renováveis.
With a round table dedicated to the subject
"Wind Energy: Present and Future", the EEUM in partnership with APREN
(Portuguese Renewable Energy Association) marked the Global Wind Day on June
15th. These included topics such as "The Renewable Electricity Sector in
Portugal", "Research and Success in Portugal" or "The
challenges in the operation of wind power plants in Portugal".
The opening session was attended by the President
of EEUM, João Monteiro, and the Secretary General of APREN, José Medeiros
Pinto. The technological trends in the sector were addressed by Gabriel Pinto
and Vítor Monteiro, respectively, Professor and Researcher of GEPE - Power and
Energy Electronics Group of the ALGORITMI Research Center.
The Global Wind Day was created in 2007 by Wind
Europe to draw attention to the great potential of wind as a renewable
electricity production resource. According to APREN, "The wind sector has
contributed decisively to the national economy. This reality has also
contributed to the generation of direct and indirect national employment
".
