Researchers from the ALGORITMI Research Centre
(ALGORITMI) of the EEUM were granted the “Best Paper Award” at the 4th
International Conference on Agreement Technologies.
Angelo Costa and
Paulo Novais, researchers from the ALGORITMI of the EEUM, received the “Best Paper Award” at the 4th International
Conference on Agreement Technologies (AT 2016), which took place from the 15th
to the 16th December in Valencia, Spain.
The EEUM’s team was
awarded for their work entitled “Using Genetic Algorithms for Group Activities
in Elderly Communities”, which aims to generate groups and their interpretation
by computer systems. To form heterogeneous groups of people and distribute them
in activities according to their tastes or social influence was the starting
point of the award-winning researchers. The project also counted with the collaboration
of an international team, constituted by Juan Hernández, Juan Alberola, Elena
Del Val and Vicente Julian, from the Department of Computer Systems and
Computation of the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain.
The Portuguese
researchers develop their scientific activities at the Department of
Informatics of the EEUM and at the ALGORITMI, which develops
R&D activities spreading into four major fields: Information Systems,
Computing Technologies; Electronics, Energy, Robotics; Computer Networks,
Pervasive Computing; Operational Research, Industrial Engineering and
Management. Projects that explore a strong link with the community are one of
the main identity traits of this research centre.
